I received an email after a long time from a dear friend and well-wisher. Reading her kind words, I realized how much I have been missing her company and our conversations. I also realized that my “Batman part” (the world-saver) has been taking over again—tricking me into believing that “she is so busy, so I’d better not bother her.” Fortunately, a colleague offered a reminder about the importance of valuing ourselves enough to simply daring to ask for what we need. Asking for the moon and staying aloof about the outcome—that’s exactly what Krishna teaches in the Bhagavad Gita: our role is to make an effort, but the results do not belong to us. Daring to boldly ask for what would enrich our lives—while also approaching each person involved with care and warm curiosity—is one of the magical aspects of Empathic Nonviolent Communication that has enriched my life enormously. Looking forward to hearing from you! With care and curiosity, Your Madhuri Radhika
